BC Horse Vacations.com-- Want a vacation that envelopes incredible scenery, luxurious accommodations, funny, warm and knowledgeable hosts, and horses? I had the great pleasure of shooting Damon and Ainsley Beauchamp's commercial images. In the process I was able to ride two of their "boyz"( their equine partners, much loved, trained, appreciated and looked after) through some of the most beautiful areas in British Columbia-- hence in the world. Damon and Ainsley have clients come from around the globe, some famous, some rich, all happy for the experience. |
| Painting Horse.com-- Ready to be amazed? This site showcases the art of Paso Fino equine, Romeo. This is the story of a wonderful collaboration between horse and human. Cheryl Ward has uncovered Romeo's gift and has allowed her relationship with her equine partner to truly reach new heights. With brush in mouth, standing in lush pastures without any hindrance of even a rope, Romeo mouths his artistic gifts with amazing dexterity. It is so refreshing to see a person find new avenues with her horse-- showing once again that it's important to truly listen to our horses and with minds wide open. We tend to give them little credit except when it comes to the "normal" areas of horsemanship. Perhaps, just perhaps, as with the human species, some are meant for sport and others for the arts.... |

Mill Busters .com-- A site dedicated to the eradication of puppy mills and trying to help out one dog at a time. Adopt a dog, educate yourself about these places and the poor souls who live their miserable lives there, help support the movement to close them down and revel in the stories of successes. It's frustrating that we must clean up the atrocities that others who create these retched conditions for the simple excuse of making money, but I've been writing about puppy factories since I was 16 years old, back in 1969 and not much has changed. Unfortunately, as long as people insist on small dogs that look a certain way, thus creating a market, it won't change. Consider a larger dog with a different look. The tails wag just as well (and they are more likely to have a tail!) and the heart is just as loyal and loving, or even more so. And don't forget-- every time you "save" one of those puppies from a mill by buying them there or at a pet store-- you are leaving behind his mother and father who are suffering day after day, minute after minute. Research carefully before you bring any dog into your home to assure you are not inadvertently supporting the industry. |

Pawsitive Veterinary Care-- Dr. Moira is an exceptional vet whose approach is holistic. Her beautiful clinic is in Kelowna, BC, but her articles and newsletter can be accessed anywhere. She is a compassionate person and is generous with her time and expertise. |

For Better or For Worse-- Need some comic relief? Nothing helps fight the blues or stress like a good laugh. And no one is better at eliciting it than Lynn Johnston. One of Canada's great talents, Lynn has been encouraging us to look at family life via The Pattersons, including all its trials, with humour well in hand. If you don't get this wonderful strip in your local paper, you can read it daily at http://www.fbofw.com/strip_fix/index.php . |

Holistic Pet Care--Dr. Gloria Dodd DVM, a holistic veterinarian, is an incredibly compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to allowing the animals in her care to heal. This is different than traditional medicine (although she is aware that it has its place) because it does not add poisons to an already compromised system, but rather works with Nature and the Life Force. Enter with an open mind-- your companion animals will appreciate it! |
|
VeganCats--Selling Vegan Dog & Cat food and other merchandise supporting a cruelty-free lifestyle. |

NoPuppyMills This is an amazing web site, authored by Kim Townsend. Kim is extremely knowledgeable about Puppy Mills and Dog Auctions and visiting this site is a must! Don't know what a puppy mill is? We have 3 articles on our site: BeeGee, Puppy Factories 101, and Puppy Mills. Visit Kim's site to learn how to research newspaper ads and pet shops that offer puppies for sale. |

PETA.org--People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Some people think these folks go too far, but I would suggest that if you saw what they see on a regular basis, you would be an activist too. This site is really hard on the emotions to read, but if you eat meat, eggs or milk, you have an obligation to know about the industries that you support. And if you don't support them, you still have a responsibility to get the message out. Also, be careful when reading news articles. Don't take anything at face value; find out all sides and make sure everything is in context before forming your opinion on this or any other group. And remember-- no organization this large will be able to make certain that everything will go well. There will be problems. It's how the problems are dealt with that makes the difference. |

Feline Diabetes.com This is a support network of diabetic cats and their people. If your cat has been diagnosed with diabetes, you will get all the information and support you could ever want! My own cat, Quigley, was diagnosed with diabetes and lived for a full 5 years, totally because of some of the wonderful people at this site, and my own determination that I could take over his care by home testing twice daily with a human glucometer. He just died on January 4th, 2007, leaving a huge hole in my life and my heart. "The Innocent", one of my wall-art posters, is an image of him as a kitten. |
| Save Samoa. Org This site advocates the rescue of critters in need-- something close to my heart. There are several true stories and some information about how to help animals in your area. |
| This Is True In the bizarre category of strange, hilarious, but true, this site stands out! Randy Cassingham is a master in the "truest" sense of the word. He scours the world for news stories (no urban myths here), reports them and then adds his own magical touch. If you're tired of fighting for right and justice in this world, take a moment to reflect and laugh at our species. Humour is the only way to keep sane.... Join his free newsletter to receive these stories every week in your mailbox, or pay a small amount and get even better ones. |
| Equine Medicine Chest.com A site full of natural remedies for the equine member of your family. |
